Apologetics Group

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. -- Matthew 22:37-38

Christianity is a thinking mans religion. God doesn't ask us to blindly believe, though faith like a child is something to strive for. This group is about loving God with our brains through discussion of the logic, science, and truth.

Apologetics: the branch of theology that is concerned with defending the Christian faith.

Group Postings

Can't Know If There Is No God

I've been trying to get my mind around the situation an atheist must be in. Someone who isn't just not sure about God but believes there is no God. I consider this one of the toughest groups to talk to so it we are going to reach out to others we should try to understand them, even if we don't agree with them.

I don't know if it's helpful but I wrote a blog post where I try to figure out if there is even a way to know if there is no God. You can check it out at: http://www.mattfarin....

Religion Shift in America

Religion has taken a gigantic shift in America according to the Pew Forum. You can check out a summary of the findings at http://churchrelevan....

Reading this was incredibly sobering.

It's All About Belief

Charles Darwin wrote in the introduction to The Origin of Species that his conclusions were based on his belief in naturalism. And, that he worked with other naturalists who had come to the same conclusion.

I've read where Hawking has written that we can't make cosmological models of the past without interjecting ideology.

Can Apologetics Convince?

Ok, this is bound to be controversial in this group...As you guys know, I'm a supporter of apologetics in general, but am not fully convinced of it's usage in the conversion of those who don't know Christ.

Separating Belief from Knowns

I think a hard part of talking about this apologetics stuff is separating belief from things we know. At least it is for me. Somewhere, we seem to have gained a diminished ability to see logic and pick things apart well. What we believe and how we feel about something become merged with the facts. Sometimes to the point that we don't even know the beliefs are merged in and think something is nothing but the facts.

So, how do you folks deal with this? How do you stop yourself from doing this and finding where others have done it?

Apologetic Podcasts

Being a fan of apologetics and an avid listener of podcasts I listen to a couple apologetic podcasts every week. My favorite two are from Ravi Zacharias, a very well known and respected apologist. You can find them at:

I like it...

I like this idea for a group...how do you see it working out? What kinds of things can we post and discuss here? I would imagine links to podcasts, books, articles and other resources would probably be a frequent posting topic.

What's the plan, stan?
