There's a great book on this topic titled, of all things, get this, "Finding Common Ground".
Here's a question that a bunch of us out here are debating ... once you've found some common ground with somebody, how do you bridge the gap between where they are and "church". After all, "church" doesn't make a whole lot of sense to most people who've never done "church".
can it be as simple as
can it be as simple as saying that you start by taking as much interest in their form of spirituality, even "participating" in it, as you would have them take in yours.
Church doesn't make sense to people who haven't done it, but I find that people are willing to explore and try new things in the spirit of exploration and dialog. But I think the tone needs to be set by the christian... we have to model openness, exploration, and dialog to get it.
Maybe that's too simplistic?
