I'm a 'lifer' here at St. Matthew. I was born into the community back in the swanky 70's and have been attending ever since. My parents are Ken and Carol Christenson, my sister is Kathy Veenstra (married to Brett) and I have a sister and brother-in-law (Barb and Todd Webb) that live in Chicago.
I met my super-cool wife, Linda, back in high school (1991 to be exact) at the St. Matthew youth group. We dated all through high school and college and got married at St. Matthew, by Pastor Paul, in 1999.
After working for years in the audio recording business, I left the industry and came to work at St. Matthew (in 2002) at the Wixom Campus as the h20 worship coordinator and media producer. Working in ministry there was amazing...seeing all the talents that God puts together and forms into a community was great to see first hand.
After a couple years there, I saw the huge need that many churches had for affordable, high quality, Christ-centered media production, so I stepped out and started Mustardseed Media, Inc where I develop media and web specifically for Christian churches and ministries.
In 2006, Matt Farina and I started The Geeks and God Podcast, which is a weekly podcast that seeks to help churches and ministries use media and the web to reach out to those that don't know Christ. We've also recently started The Super Average Podcast which is 4 regular guys talking about everyday faith. The hosts include Matt, myself, Pastor Dion and LCMS pastor Joe Burnham.
In 2007, we added a new baby girl to our family, Caroline Jane. She is amazing, and beautiful, and hilarious. I'm constantly amazed how God has blessed me and my family so richly, and I hope that I can learn to share those blessings with others more each day.
